Why Your Hair Loss Treatment Should Start With a Scan

Most people who arrive here have already spent money on a shampoo, a supplement, or a tonic someone recommended. None of it worked, because none of those options were chosen based on what was actually happening to their scalp.

A clinical scalp analysis changes that. It tells you three things you cannot establish any other way.

Whether Your Follicles Are Still Alive

Regenerative treatments work on follicles that are weakened, not on follicles that are gone. From the outside those two look similar. Under magnification they look nothing alike, and that single distinction decides whether a course of treatment is worth buying in the first place.

The Actual Cause

The same thinning pattern can come from various factors be it genetics, an iron deficiency, a thyroid problem, prolonged stress or an inflamed scalp. Each type of hair thinning responds to completely different treatments.

A Number to Measure Against

Hair grows roughly 1.25cm a month, so change is almost impossible to judge from memory. A baseline reading now, compared against another at six months, tells you objectively whether your treatment is working.

What Happens at Your Appointment

Before You Come In

Arrive with clean, dry hair and no styling product, since oils and sprays sit on the scalp and obscure the view. Ideally wash the day before rather than the same morning, as a freshly washed scalp can mask oil-related issues. Bring a list of any medication and supplements you take.

Consultation

Your doctor will ask when you first noticed the change, how quickly it has progressed, whether anyone in your family has the same pattern, and what has been happening in your life. Recent illness, surgery, childbirth, crash dieting and severe stress all show up months later as shedding.

The Scan

You are seated down, the consultant moves the camera across several areas of your scalp, and you watch the same magnified image your consultant is looking at. Most patients find this the interesting part, since it is usually the first time they have seen their own scalp properly.

Your Results

The measurements are explained alongside what they mean: which zones are affected, how far it has progressed, whether the follicles are still active, and what that means for your options.

The whole appointment takes around 20 minutes.

What You Leave With

dr-hair-saloon-model
  • A clear reading of your hair density and follicle condition.
  • An explanation of what is driving your hair loss, and whether anything beyond pattern loss is contributing.
  • An honest answer on whether treatment can help, and which one fits. If a regenerative treatment is not the right route for your scalp, we will say so and tell you what is.
  • A baseline measurement: a snapshot of your scalp today, so you can compare your future progress side-by-side when you scan again in a few months.

Your Treatment Journey at DR-Hair

Consultation and Scalp Analysis

Your first visit is a 10 to 15-minute assessment, not a treatment. We run a digital scan to map how dense your hair actually is and how far the shrinking has progressed, review your medical history, and work out what is actually driving your hair loss.

First
Session

Numbing, preparation and scalp delivery, usually completed within 45 minutes.

Sessions Two to Four

Spaced four to six weeks apart. The effect builds across the course, so keeping to schedule matters.

Maintenance

Most patients return every three to six months to hold the density they have gained.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a clinical scalp analysis cost?

Free for first time customers (NP: RM88), including the 20-minute digital scan and your consultation. Our treatment and hair spa trial sessions include an analysis as part of the package.

No, it does not hurt. A camera is just placed against your scalp for a scan. There is no cutting or injection involved.

It takes around 20 minutes, including the consultation and going through your results.

Come with clean, dry hair and no styling product, ideally washed the day before rather than the same morning.

It shows whether your follicles are still active, which determines whether regenerative treatment can help. Areas where the follicle is no longer present need a different approach, and we will tell you if that is what the scan shows.

A scan still gives you a measurement. Bring details of what you are using and we will factor that in.

The frequency of getting a scan analysis is dependent on the individual’s scalp condition. Generally, a baseline analysis is done before treatment, then again at around six months to measure progress. Yearly after that is usually enough.
